MUSICAL EDUCATION
The Silesian Philharmonic was the first to bring its concerts to schools. We incessantly continue educating children musically through various forms which we consult with teachers and methodologists. We cordially invite You to cooperate with us in developing the love of music in children during the 2011 / 2012 school year.

YOUNG PHILHARMONIC - monthly concerts held in the historic interiors of the Karol Stryja Concert Hall performed by the Philharmonic ensembles: the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the Choir as well as invited soloists and conductors. Each concert is led by a speaker who provides a thorough commentary on the performed pieces. The concerts of the Young Philharmonic are enjoying an increasing popularity among our young listeners.

Last season, together with the Katowice Yamaha Music School, we invited our listeners to the first concerts of the Children's Philharmonic, addressed to families with babies, even those yet unborn. We are going to continue these gatherings. You will find all the information regarding these concerts (as well as ticket reservations, which are only possible via the internet) on website:

SCHOOL CONCERTS - soloist and chamber music thematic concerts. They last one lesson hour and are held once a month at schools or cultural centres in the whole Silesian voivodeship. Having succeeded in gathering a large audience for our initial Children's Philharmonic concerts we want to intensify our education concerts for kindergartens, which are focused on Chopin's music this year. They are accompanied by a commentary adjusted to the age of the listeners. The thematic form of the concerts helps to broaden children's knowledge of music styles, composers and means of artistic expression as well as historic and social context of music development.
The Silesian Philharmonic gave several hundred education concerts last year.

Jolanta Schmidt - tel.: 32 351 17 03, 510 046 131
Regina Gowarzewska – Griessgraber – tel. 512 016 935

The theme of both the above concert cycles promotes the knowledge of historical and traditional conditions of culture development, composers, styles, and means of artistic expression in music. Live contact with the art of sound enriches the mind and makes young listeners sensitive towards beauty, while also showing that even passive participation (that is listening) can be an interesting way of relaxing oneself and spending free time. Upon a prior phone agreement, it is possible for organised groups of school children to participate in the morning rehearsals of the ensembles and, with a special discount on a ticket price, in subscribed concerts held on Fridays.

We hope our offer will meet your expectations and allow us to establish long-term co-operation.
